That’s not a bad commute. There’s a lot you can do with extra $80k.
I love this response. Time v money.
Im going back into the office full.time and I kniw im going to miss my lunchtime playing with my dog's
Work hours, WLB, team, benefits are also part of the equation. Don’t forget those. But for 20-30 minutes that isn’t bad.
No way!! Time is way more valuable than money and it seems like you make enough already. If you can land a pay bump in a fully-onsite role, you can probably do the same in a hybrid or still remote role.
I just answered based on the info given. Obviously there is a lot not mentioned like which position they are more interested in, which gives better opportunities, benefits, hours, etc.
Can I have that 300k offer if you don’t take it 😂
Yeah I might take the 80k, not a bad commute at all.
If money was the only factor, you would be insane to turn the opportunity down for a few stops on the subway. As someone that commuted from burbs to the city for decades (because it was the right thing to do for my kids), I would jump at such a short commute.
However, this thread makes me think you really don't want the other job. If you really don't like the new role, no amount of money will change that.
Don't do it! Being miserable and losing your already limited free time isn't worth it.
Because the commute is so reasonable I would definitely consider the 300k offer. Which place do you like more? Which has better growth potential?
Does your subway stop flood? Because you could not get me in the office in rainy days.
And do you have enough room in your apartment to wfh every day and not lose it?
Two things I would consider in nyc if that’s your location
Pay isn’t everything. I value culture, flexibility, and work life balance over more money–especially 10+ years in my career making $200k+.
Who the hell requires 5 days in the office anymore? Any company that has that mandate is living in the past!
300k, 5 days!!
Congratulations, perception is everything. Only you can choose what's good for you. Regardless, in my views I see new beginnings and professional growth keep it positive also truthful. .
To,!!
I wouldn’t make that move.
Will surely just stay with 220k, I can sleep in the day with 220 lol
I wouldn’t. You are happy and you make a good living. You have no idea what you may walk into and you already know the WLB will be worse. You could also have a monster for a boss and crummy coworkers and be miserable.
Make a decision based on what you actually value, not what people are trying to tell you to do.
Some options are available, but if there are no options, just go with the arrangement
220k remote you could still have other commitments and still deliver well plug me in!!!
Easy take the money. 20-30 minutes? If you said an hour that’s one thing.
I would take the remote role if relocating to a location with a lower cost of living is in the works. That’s what I did. Spend most of my days in PR 😎
You are offered over $220k and you are asking here what to do???? They should rescind an offer because they don’t have any clue whom they are getting…
