Trying to think of a gift to get my 2 staff for the holidays. Nothing crazy just want to boost morale. Any ideas? Something you received in the past that you enjoyed? Thanks in advance!

Wine/beer/liquor would be easy and can have a personal touch if you know what kind of stuff they like already

likehelpful

Wow some of these responses aren’t so uplifting. If I got a gift from anybody I work with I’d be appreciative and happy they thought enough of me to do so. I know I enjoy work more when I know the person I work with genuinely appreciates me. Maybe I am just lucky and have a great group I get to work with. Happy holidays y’all. I think if you know what they like outside of work, a gift geared toward that would be great and I would hope, appreciated.

Yeah it’s exactly D1s point. You don’t want to insult someone when you were trying to say thanks

Less work?

likefunnyuplifting

Yeah this is a terrible idea. What if they proactively cancel plans before you tell them this was your idea of a joke? Wtf.

Starbucks or Amazon gift card? I have a yeti that I got at a recruiting event that I like

Unless you know they're avid coffee drinkers, I can't think of anything more thoughtless than a sbux gift card. I get these and hand them over to my kid so he can re-gift to teachers and friends.

Yeti tumbler

whatever you do, please don’t be like the senior manager who one year gave us each a dollar store tissue pack with a paper tag attached to it that said “I tissue a happy holiday season”

Lmao

Where to begin... I've found that with gifts, higher quality is better received.

Chocolate: Marich Confectionery - gift baskets are affordable, chocolate is divine.

Tea: DavidsTEA - sampler of some kind (my client gifts every year are their advent calendars.. advent already started so I'd avoid at this point). Make sure you add an infuser as not everyone has one.

Socks: Darn tough. Super comfy, lifetime warranty.

Best option: spend $90 each and get them a basket with chocolate, tea, and socks. A "Winter Pick-Me-Up Basket" - if I were going to do this, I'd buy and ship to myself:
Marich: Gratitude & Cheer box $30 - comes with 8 2-3 oz sampler packages, I'd split between the two staff.
DavidsTEA: a sampler up to $25/each, plus an infuser $6-10/each.
Darn tough socks: $24-30 each. Something warm.
Target: 4.75x8" wicker basket $8, greeting card $3 /each
Then package the baskets myself and leave them on their desks. Or if WFH, ship them to them.

$88 each (plus cost of shipping).
$15 chocolate
$35 tea
$27 socks
$8 basket
$3 card - write something meaningful in the card

Added benefit: it makes you look super thoughtful because you spent "so much time" thinking about the gifts!

This is awesome, thank you!

I’m assuming you know personal things about then (hobbies, interests, etc). So the best gift would be related to those so they feel personal and special. The best gifts are one part practical and one part personal.

I did a succulent with a handwritten note. I polled FB a couple weeks ago and that seemed to be a popular idea.

Just send them a Bravo award so they can get a gift card somewhere

likesmart

That's sincerely a very nice thing to consider doing, but I wouldn't expect that a gift (however expensive it may be) to boost morale. That's up to the partners.

like

Absolutely, everyone has a role to play. In the context of PA and especially in the current environment, it's really up to the partners to lead that process. The whole tone at the the top thing applies to accounting firms as well.

I sent my EA and PA 3wick candles from bath and body works

My senior manager got me casamigos tequila since he knows I like tequila. It was a great gift!

My manager gets something personal for everyone. She got me a cactus mug that was very cute. She got another girl a small framed illustration of a hedgehog because she has hedgehogs. It really meant a lot that she took time to get us something meaningful
