25k miles or $400 for a round trip flight? United 1K but have never cashed in on miles, so no idea how much the miles are worth 🤗

TPG and many miles sites post their take on the value of miles

like

TPG says $0.013 per mile, so 25k = $325. Sounds like a good value from that perspective, thanks!

Is 400k basic economy? If yes, then definitely go with miles redemption.

like

Go with miles, I'd say. With basic economy, you won't get many of your 1k privileges.

like

Always miles if the company isn’t paying. I didn’t come to this job to pay for my own travel.

Mostly considered saving it as opportunity cost in case a really sweet deal comes up. But I agree, there’s opportunity cost with cash too...

Note that even for 1K comp upgrades don’t apply on award tix (unless you have the United card), so be sure you’re comfortable flying in the back. Personally I’d probably buy with cash and save the miles for a higher value biz/first award redemption.

I stopped contributing to my 401K for the last three months in order to pay off credit card debt. I am 28 and have about 68K in my 401K. Was this a smart decision? I want to get out of debt as quickly as possible and I have no student loans or car debt.

Is it just me or are there entirely too many people in Business Services, specifically TC’s, who are just folks from client service that don’t want to deal with hours and travel anymore but have no formal training in the Business Services function they transition to? It seems to me very few TC’s are professionals in HR with any background, training or certifications in HR.

My client wants both parties to list assets & liabilities as an exhibit to their prenup without values, but waive the right to know the actual valuation of those in the prenup itself. My initial thought is this is a terrible idea & would probably make the prenup easily voidable since a main requirement for a prenup is for both to understand the nature and value of the other’s assets. I will research in my jurisdiction to confirm, but has anyone ever heard of/done this? Thoughts?
