TPG and many miles sites post their take on the value of miles
TPG says $0.013 per mile, so 25k = $325. Sounds like a good value from that perspective, thanks!
Is 400k basic economy? If yes, then definitely go with miles redemption.
Go with miles, I'd say. With basic economy, you won't get many of your 1k privileges.
Always miles if the company isn’t paying. I didn’t come to this job to pay for my own travel.
Mostly considered saving it as opportunity cost in case a really sweet deal comes up. But I agree, there’s opportunity cost with cash too...
Note that even for 1K comp upgrades don’t apply on award tix (unless you have the United card), so be sure you’re comfortable flying in the back. Personally I’d probably buy with cash and save the miles for a higher value biz/first award redemption.
