I love making other people rich. That's my true passion, so I'm here to stay.
Thought about moving down south and opening up a BBQ joint. That or suicide. Still on the fence.
I've been in this business for 20 years. I've been trying to plan my exit for the last 18...
The ad business isn't a business for many people over 40. There's not as many positions, salary becomes to high to support, and the fatigue starts to lead to some bad things. Yes a bit generalizing, but a common story. You should ALWAYS be thinking of what YOUR long game is. Not what you want this small community to view you as, but what you really want.
I've been doing this since 2010... it's only after reading many of these posts and taking a hard look in the mirror that I realized how fucking miserable I've been. Dunno what's next. My current job is stable, so I think I'll take advantage and plan my next move. That, or therapy.
Been definitely thinking of what my next move is. Either client side or at a tech company, either way, this is not a stable career for women in the creative department who want to see their children, unfortunately...which I am.
Copywriter 1. Death by BBQ. That is, if you open up the right type of grease pit . Two birds. One stone my friend.
Been thinking about my long game and I have no idea what else I could see myself doing as a career. But I'd love to see my kids more, so I should probably think harder...
It's a means to an end — but an end I would have never discovered without agency experience.
Considering going to a tech company
This will likely be my last ad job. I like the work I do, I'm just not so hot on using my skills to sell cars to rich white guys.
Can't imagine life outside of advertising but if I had to leave maybe I would retrain and go back into scientific research which was my field before advertising
I'm leaving in 3 months to go back to school in a field where I can actually try to make a positive impact on the world. After complaining forever, it took me 2 years of serious thought to decide what I wanted to do and 1 even more difficult one to execute it while working advertising hours. But now, I couldn't be more excited. Won't miss it at all.
@LB1 what did you decide you wanted to do?
