For those in AM: thoughts on CAIA, CIPM, etc?? I was wondering if these will actually help vs. just waste of money.
Currently have the FRM title.
I failed CFA level 3 once.
I'm hoping to eventually do CAIA, but only after I'm done with CFA. I'm also hoping to do non-financial certifications, like Certified analytics professional (CAP), and learn about web development.
While I may have the title of manager, I am still an individual contributor. The type of work I do involves quantitative analysis/data analysis/science.
Any suggestions as to what I should start with?
Has anyone written CAIA and found it to be useful? I'm not planning to move into portfolio management but would like to learn about alternative assets more. Company will pay for me to write it
CAIA vs CFA?
Has anyone gone CAIA route ?
Is CAIA worth it? Actually CFA too lol
Just got a scholarship to take the CAIA L1 in March 2021. Anyone taken it and can offer advice on how to prepare?
I don’t have an undergrad degree, but completed roughly 2.5 years out of the 4. I’m in my mid 20’s with 3 years of experience in wealth management working with UHNW clients. If I get my CFA and my CAIA, will my firm/other firms consider me regardless of my lack of a degree? I also have my series 7 and 66.
Anyone taking CAIA 1 next mo?
CMT vs CAIA?
I currently work in sales for an asset manager and have an MBA. Would like a designation, one that’s applicable to asset management and has some status/recognition. Appreciate any thoughts or insights. (Also dont want to take CFA)
Tip for anyone taking the CAIA exam, get UpperMark. Was using willey and was abt 1/2 complete and borrowed a friends test bank … night and day much harder and honestly was more like what I expected
Honest thoughts on best qualifications to go after to break into PE from consulting - should I go after ACA/CFA/CAIA? I feel I’ve only got the patience to do one of these 😂
Anyone use the Pearson virtual test Proctor? Just registers for CAIA and couldn’t get a spot in my area so asked for the allowance , I have heard horrible story’s.
CAIA or CMT?
I do institutional sales for an asset manager. Am graduating in the fall with an MBA from a top 40 school. Would like a designation but dont want to do the CFA. Between the CAIA and CMT: which one is more applicable to asset management, and better status/recognition? appreciate any insight
Has anyone taken the CAIA exam recently? Currently studying for lvl 1 but not too much commentary out there.

Hi all 👋🏼 I would like to read your suggestions: What are some questions you would ask or what are some things you would make sure to have in place before accepting a remote position? I am thinking asking about taxes, equipment, health insurance, what happens if I move, etc. Am I missing anything?
ELA Teachers, what do you use for your SGO data? Running Records (increasing reading levels) or do you use a different benchmark?
Employer requires use of vacation for sick days for non-exempt salaried employees, then surprises everyone with a forced, unpaid week at the end of the year due to shutdowns. At this point, most people that can afford to plan for the week of vacation time they have to use at the end of the year.
Is this common practice? I am pretty sure it is completely legal, but still seems like a bad policy.
Anyone have a book recommendation about the Reagan era and the whole CIA pushing guns/drugs into black communities? Thanks in advanced 🙏🏾

Some good news. I am the OP of a post earlier this week about whether law firms are saying anything about the rising tide in hate crime against Asians. https://joinfishbowl.com/post_mc2we2qtyf Happy to say that Freshfields is/will shortly be putting out a statement.

Internal recruiter here A candidates close relative referred them and shared their pronouns. I won’t be speaking to candidate before sharing with HM and there is no opportunity to do so. Should I share their pronouns with the HM (eg sam smith, they/them) or no, and let them share personally and just ensure I use correct pronouns. I want to be respectful to the individual. Thanks in advance

Anyone familiar with council capital? It sounds very interesting and would love to chat with someone and learn more about it.
I've miraculously made my way into a buyside position at a REPE firm $6b+ aum, coming from a non traditional finance background- no IB / consulting exp. How common is this, in REPE? I feel very lucky to be in my position and work long hours trying to keep up. At first, i struggled immensely, but now I feel my heads up out of the water, and want to be proactive in learning mannerism typically taught in IB. How do you reflect on your months performance and keep learning?
Why do PE firms purchase companies on a EBITDA multiple? At the very least, why not FCF since EBITDA is just a proxy for that anyway?
Is anyone happy here?

If not prepared whatsoever for on cycle this year, is it okay to just wait until next year? Or should I give a shot this year? Don’t want to mess up and have a bad reputation with interviewers. Still only ~9 months into career for context
What’s an investing role that has the best WLB? Not necessarily PE but looking for something that involves investing
For those that didn’t end up making it into PE/VC investing. How did you move on with life? I think the door for PE/VC has closed for me and I feel unmotivated to do a job I’m not passionate about for the rest of my life. I’m literally just working to live.
Are MF focusing on Life Sciences like Blackstone Life Sciences, Bain Cap LS or KKR Healthcare actually operating more like VC instead of PE? Given that many targets can be early stage biotechs or med device co for example.
Had like 8 interviews for a deal associate role and have not heard back yet, from last Wed. Should just move on right?
I’ve seen a lot of chatter on PE Ops in recent days. Anyone bag an offer recently? If so, what level, YOE, TC, carry?
Looking for comps in this space (outside of the H&S survey) is challenging.
What do people in PE do since there is nowhere else more prestigious to go to? Do they just stick around until they retire?
Long shot but still thought to ask, Do PE firms working in Infrastructure investments hire people without any consulting experience? Thanks
I’m in a bit of a unique situation where I’m deciding between MBB and MM private equity (both NYC, I have ~2.5 YOE).
Main considerations are money and WLB, especially weekends. I’d be curious to hear perspectives on WLB differences between the two either anecdotally or from people who have experienced both. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
How many processes did you go through before getting an offer? Just went through my first one and don’t think I got the offer
