I wonder if that's just a prerequisite to getting promoted, lol. No but really, it does feel like I've seen a lot of higher-level managers with a short fuse. I know they probably work hard, but at the end of the day, is it worth it to be so stressed and angry all the time?
Yup. Yet their mistakes are never "mistakes", just the fault of someone below them because they can blame whoever they want. I swear the bigger the ego, the faster they float to the top.
It's almost as if working in a field that rewards the psychologically damaged and emotionally immature has consequences. Hmmm. Seriously, you'll run into people in high positions who have a fine opinion of themselves, and some of them do tend to lose it over things that really don't matter all that much. In fairness, I've worked with smart people who simply couldn't abide fools, but that's still no excuse for angry outbursts.
Actually, you know what? You’re right. Overall, that has been my experience. I spend more time talking my director off a ledge than getting my actual job done. I wonder why that is? I assume it’s because they’re all type a personalities
