A customer barged up to the counter waving a cereal box, yelling the scanner was rigged. I walked over to check the shelf tag—only to see she’d somehow crammed a family-size box into a regular-size box’s spot, crushing half the row in the process. She stared at it, dead serious, and said, “Well, the box grew while I was shopping.” I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing as she proudly bought it anyway.

My wife reads nearly an entire book per day just in her spare time after work, no exaggeration. I’m amazed by her and wondering what ideas are out there to monetize her skill? Book editing maybe?

At a different job I had a customer trying to swindle me in telling me that there was a deal in an item that never had a deal or promotion for sale so he made me scan the item 20 times before believing me. Obviously, he finally let it go but I scan it with an inventory scanner that showed me all of the sale price promotions if there were any

I had customers tell me how amazing the salads I make for them. It’s great that I can make salads that good!

Back when I was getting started in the food world, I worked flipping burgers at In-n-Out. A man came in and said the burgers he had gotten weren’t right. He dumped the food on the counter and then he started throwing them back behind the counter. We gave him a refund and then his demeanor completely changed. He was calmer and he told us to have a great day as he left us to clean up the mess he made.
