Harvard, you’ll make the money back fairly quickly
Stanford. Long term west coast network more valuable to me. Culture also a more interesting draw. And in the long run the price tag sticker shock will wear off
Yale/Stern. No question. Nearly 200k of debt suck and stern/Yale will get you to where you want to go.
I find it interesting that no one has asked what why you want to go to business school and what your short term and long term goals are once you leave. If you know this, the decision should be a lot clearer for you. The fact that your considering H/S, to the degree that you are, makes me belief that money isn’t a factor. So my advice to you is choose where you want to go ... I would go with community. All four options have very unique distinct communities.
OP asked “what would *you* choose and why”
H/S you only get an MBA once
If your aim is PE or VC, H/S. Otherwise, pick the full ride. No one else cares if you’re H/S vs Yale (perhaps MBB to some extent, in handing out interview invitations)
H/S, I think long term you might wonder what might have been. Personally, S
If you get into HWS you go.
Between Yale and Stern, choose Yale if you care about culture. You’d still have access to the rest of the Yale network. On the other hand, I’m meeting Stern people throughout the interview route. They don’t have classes during prime internship season, but the culture has been mediocre and people don’t live that close to each other.
HBS/Stanford definitely open lots more doors. Depending on where you’re aiming to go post-MBA, many of your classmates may have had prior work experience in those industries.
H/S. Care to share your profile?
Yale but that’s bc I just chose Yale over M7, go with where you fit culturally and what best serves your career goals. Talk to as many students and alums as you can get your hands on. Go to admitted students events. Use LinkedIn to see which school has more alums in roles you want at your target companies — or just network with your target companies directly and ask.
H/S for the lifelong connections with classmates. I’d choose Stanford because of culture & resources. However, it does come down to your willingness to take on debt and personal financial situation.
A friend just made a similar decision yesterday. She’s deciding between Tuck (full ride) vs. Stanford. She’s picking Tuck, because of fit and zero cost of attending a top bschool.
Be clear and confident in your decision. Agree with Assoc 2 It’s your life. Fuck what anyone else has to say.
I faced a similar decision between a full scholarship and prestige. Albeit my schools were ranked a few spots lower than yours. I chose the money because I can’t buy a Porsche with prestige. But I could end up in my target career without the MBA so the fact that my school is top-15 instead of top-10 wasn’t as important. Just giving you another data point, hope you do what makes you happy.

Is this a hypothetical question or did you have all these offers?
If your profile is that good, you can end up at MBB even after Yale or Stern. 200K is almost 400K before tax. That’s what you will make when you are junior partner. It’s not little money
But if your goal is to go into private equity h/s is the best choice
Hmm
