My wife reads nearly an entire book per day just in her spare time after work, no exaggeration. I’m amazed by her and wondering what ideas are out there to monetize her skill? Book editing maybe?

Why should she monetize? Not everything needs to be side hustle. That is an AMAZING gift - one she shares with Teddy Roosevelt. Don’t monetize and take the joy out of it.

Maybe she could write her thoughts on each book and create a blog? I would read to get a summary of a book and if that catches my interest then buy the book. She can put links to the author’s page and link to buy the book, can get affiliate $$ from amazon store if ppl buy the book by navigating from her page.

Does SHE want to monetize this skill?!

I agree G1, not every hobby or creative passion needs to lead to monetary gain and it certainly can erode the enjoyment. Like in this case, having to write about a book she read might seem like a chore as she may need to re read or read a different way to be able to write intelligently about it and that takes away the pure pleasure of reading for herself for enjoying the reading and the content.

My 10 year old is the same way. I used to joke that he had read more books than I have. Now it's not a joke; he has by a long shot.

All sounds good.

Only in the west do we try to monetize simple things that bring joy. Does she want to monetize it? If not let her have this gift. I'd kill to be able to read a book a day. I love to read and can typically finish a 200-300pp book in about 3 weeks. Anything over 350 and it's about a month. Kudos to her.

I could be wrong on this but pretty sure my MIL types up existing books for translation into Braille for the blind. She doesn’t know Braille, just has to type. I think it’s also a volunteer or small stipend.
She could also try to be a proofreader?

Monetize by getting a new job that pays more with longer hours. I don’t finish my work days until 9 everyday 😭

Question: Girl friends parents finally came over for a ristha. Everything went great or so I thought but now she wants to time to think about moving forward. The pain point she brought up is that we are in different states and she is feeling pressed. Although in that time she has started communicating less and I literally had to beg her to get on face time. My gut says she wants to end it but unsure. Any advice ? It's been 2 weeks since this event

I’ve turned 27 years old today and my father doesn’t give a shit about it. We didn’t celebrate. He yelled at me for waking up too late (it was 11am and I live in my own apartment). My family is here just to visit. I come from an immigrant family FYI. It’s like we’re not allowed to have fun somehow and always focused on work and chores. I hate all this negativity… Been patient and trying to stay patient.

At my uncles wedding in Madrid I remember lying down on the grass in the courtyard after their first dance and crying, my Dad came and saw me, laid down in his suit beside me and asked what was wrong.

“I know my boyfriend wouldn’t dance with me like that at our wedding”

And we just lay there as I cried, and then got up. Had a drink.

Said boyfriend left years ago, and now I have a wonderful man who just asked me what type of dance lessons I want for our wedding next year.

Don’t give up.

His messages show he still doesn’t know what he wants. Yet, if I am totally honest, I hate how part of me wishes he would do a grand gesture/finally decide to be a better man. It’s delusional. It’s crazy how love can be so rosy, sweet & blinding that the red flags seem surmountable.

Let’s say you have two young, high income partners in a couple who want to buy a house together but don’t really care to get married.
