People who know… know BDO.
GT advisory is much bigger than any other accounting firm outside of the B4. From what I understand in my market we pretty much are the name in MM FDD unless you wanna go boutique.
Beyond that, cant say anything about BDO but I don’t know anybody that compares us to them. We look at boutiques like A&M etc as more peers (admittedly higher paid peers).
Im curious what market you’re in because in my market, everybody compares GT, BDO and RSM because we are all middle market FDD. Our fees will generally be +/- 10% of each other and 30-40% less than big 4.

I can speak about GT since I worked there. GT has a strong fdd. Not sure about BDO but their databook is like I never seem in the market really elaborate and fancy. GT has a very close group with most senior employees internally grown (lifers from audit) . Compensation wise they are below market although I have not worked there in a year so things could have changed. GT also has one of the best fdd trainings out there. Not a lot a very diverse workforce in GT fdd. Not a lot of partners and directors who are women or of color/minority.
My perspective is GT > RSM > BDO for mid market accounting firm FDD. All would compete with each other though.

I do not work at either, but from what I’ve heard, GT overall FDD culture and pay is a lot better than BDO’s.
