A customer once asked if our Wi-Fi could “reach the parking lot so his dog could watch Netflix too.” I thought he was joking—he wasn’t. I told him, “Only if your dog promises not to binge-watch crime shows again.” He said, dead serious, “That’s why he bites strangers.” My manager walked by mid-convo and just whispered, “Approve it.” Honestly, it’s one of the weirdest requests I’ve fulfilled… and I still wonder what that dog was watching. Back when I was getting started in the food world, I worked flipping burgers at In-n-Out. A man came in and said the burgers he had gotten weren’t right. He dumped the food on the counter and then he started throwing them back behind the counter. We gave him a refund and then his demeanor completely changed. He was calmer and he told us to have a great day as he left us to clean up the mess he made.
