Hi - I have donations given to Team Everest for Nov 2021 with receipt. But IBM AskHR says no support for donations tax exemption on Form 16. Thus, the donation isn't deducted on my Form 16. Can I now update the donation directly on E-filing.gov u/s 80G for exemption or will that cause an issue ? IBM

That polite keyboard tap is universal. I usually lead with empathy and an alternative. Something like we are not able to accommodate early check in today, but I would be happy to store your luggage or let you know the moment a room opens. It softens the no without changing it.

Most experienced travelers would already know the answer but they figure they might as well ask. It's good to be as accommodating as you can. Offer to hold their bags, recommend places to eat or sights to see nearby, and let them know a time when the room will be ready.

You did all you could by making a token (fake) gesture to check for them. There's really nothing else you can do about it. You can't make guests disappear or speed up housekeeping's work.

Been there. I usually stick to something like, “I wish we could, but your room isn’t ready yet. Here’s what we can do while you wait…” keeps it polite without sugarcoating. It’s all about giving options while staying firm.
