That’s a bit much up front but if you really want the job just put down family members or friends that got your back.
And... idk dude... I would advise against family and friends too... unless theyre like... old world family friends thatve known you forever... if you haven't got professional references, give em teachers, coaches, almost anyone who had impersonal oversight of a performative/task oriented thing... a thing with an point A->point B structure

Agreed! Giving them references that are family or friends is a conflict of interest and likely ones they won’t accept
Its not completely out of sorts for sure. Maybe a little weird if they..like.. specifically called and asked for references before they interviewed... like.. if you slide them a resume, says references available..might be a smudge weird they call and ask for you to cough those up without..any other discussion... but..I mean.. if it was a 15 min phone call...
Maybe give em like...2 really general references and ask if that means youre in the winners circle somewhere

I have seen it more often than not lately. I’ve seen it on applications for all levels of employees. I think that’s a way for them to shorten the hiring process. Or at least gather more info upfront, instead of having to double back if they like a candidate. I’d just do it, especially if I’m really wanting the job.
That's quite unusual for them to ask you for reference first. I suppose it won't do any harm if your ok with it.Goi with your gut instinct, good luck. From England UK.
