After 23 years at one company, I gained end‑to‑end experience across multiple roles and constant change. That depth may appear “nontraditional” in ATS searches, but it represents stability, adaptability, and accountability. I bring perspective, resilience, and results—and contribute immediately.

That level of deep-dive experience across so many roles is actually gold in most companies, but the whole “nontraditional” tag does freak out a lot of ATS systems. It’s wild how much nuance gets lost when a resume first hits an algorithm instead of a real person, so much relies on exact keywords and how you frame things.

I had a similar moment when I realized half the stuff I did at my old job wasn’t even showing up for searches because I didn’t use the buzzwords recruiters wanted. Now, whenever I update my resume, I’ll run it through a couple of tools just to see which skills and words I’m missing - usually ResumeJudge, sometimes Resume Worded or Jobscan too. Even if you’re not “job hunting hard,” it kinda lets you see what the bots see before a recruiter does.

I bet you’ve got crazy strong bullet points that just aren’t translating into the language these systems recognize, especially if you did a bunch of cross-functional projects or unique stuff. Did you notice big gaps if you checked your resume against any actual job postings?

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

Hi all,
I graduated during Covid with a double major in business administration and business management with a minor in marketing and magically ended up in sales because I needed a job. I’m about to take a data analytics course to make an attempt to break into that field. I’m currently looking for a mentor to help guide me during this time. Also, if anyone is willing to look over my resume and give me tips on how to make it more presentable for recruiters in DA that would be very helpful. Thanks
