Rising Star
Stress does crazy things to one’s body. My cycles were often late as I anticipated an IVF cycle, normally because I was so anxiously awaiting my period so I could start.
Take a little time to try to let go of wanting to control all of this. I know it is SO hard to do, especially when we want this to work SO much. It helped me to think of it as practice for my baby-to-be and learning to just roll with whatever motherhood will throw at me.
Do you have PCOS or are otherwise irregular typically ?
I’ve done 7 total IUIs and 8 IUI preparatory cycles across 2 healthy pregnancies and my period didn’t always arrive perfectly “on time.” I also have PCOS.
I would not worry.
Sorry if your plans change slightly as a result. I understand wanting everything to be perfect for the next step of IVF, but things are hardly ever perfect with fertility treatments. My failed IUI cycle when I didn’t even grow a dominant follicle was without rhyme or reason and delayed me months. That was after 4 cycles and a miscarriage. It sucks, nothing fun about the process except hopefully a baby at the end. 🙏
Good luck - hopefully any delay is small.
Whether stress or hormones from meds, my periods were always off for a month ot two following an IVF cycle. Never did IUI so can’t speak to if the meds/hormones for that could have a similar impact. My doctor never seemed concerned by it.
Did you trigger ovulation? Definitely sounds a bit strange with a monitored IUI—are you on progesterone?
