It is restrictive, and if you're phrasing it that way, it may not be something you're comfortable with. That's just part of having a job. If you're working for yourself and you want to spend the day going to the park, that's up to you. If you take a job working for someone else, you just have to learn to adapt. If the money makes it worthwhile, great, if not, do something else.
Subject Expert
There’s still a lot you can do creatively within the bounds of the direction your boss wants to take your project(s) in. Amount of autonomy definitely varies by team and even more so by manager/management style, my boss has given me a ton of space to be creative on my own.
A good mindset shift might even be treating your boss as a client, at the end of the day you bring your iterations back to them and they approve or reject things.
I’d say if it’s something that worries you, make sure to ask questions to your future manager about how they lead their teams, or how hands on/hands off they are.
