Selected in a Big4 firm and one MNC shortlisting is going on, hopefully will get selected within 7-8days. The MNC will be offering good package, but Big4 is just giving 20% hike in my salary and waiting for my decision to say yes or no,to proceed further with offer letter. Query :1. If I say yes to the Big4, and when they issue the offer letter, and then I reject, can they blacklist me. 2. Also if accept the offer and say no, in that case can they blacklist me from their firm. I’m about to start an internship at IBM for UX Research. I’m super excited about it, and was wondering if anyone could tell me about the design culture there or how the company is for designers? So far online I’ve only heard about the company from consultants or software engineers. For more reference I’ll be working in Austin.

I started at $55k - Western US state
⬇️
When I asked for a pay increase after a year, and 2 launched products, they offered me $63k. (I asked for fair market for my state which was $83k-ish at the time)

I moved companies and make $87.5k
Depends on the recruiter are they internal or external? I think external recruiters high ball you because they're 1. Either really good at what they do and can gage your experience. 2. The payout the recieve is dependant on the contracts they sign.
Type 1 recruiters can be nice to chat up and ask questions to if they're open to talking to you.
Also if/when you need it join the Negotiating Compensation Fishbowl. Lots of good questions/answers being posted there.

My first experience designer role was $70k
Now at ~ 3 YOE my base pay is $132k, TC ~$150k-$165k
My biggest advice to you when looking for a role: be sure the company understand and supports true UX/product design. My first role paid so little because the company was more so using “UX designer” as a title for someone who cleaned up slide decks and created stories for sales.

That's awesome thanks for the transparency
I started at around 55k but was working for a very small company, I think it really depends on the company and how much you advocate for yourself.
Thanks!
