One thing about AP is that the exit opportunities are non existent except a client offers you a job or maybe, maybe PE Ops. AP doesn’t have career services and you will likely be a one trick pony, where you will be labelled as a go to person for a particular skill. EYP has a better brand than AP.
Also, one thing that hasn’t been called out in this thread is that, as a Director you will have to be VERY hands on. EYP SD is a more people manager role with BD responsibilities. At AP, Directors create and own models, run analysis, make pages. If you aren’t used to this, it will be a big change for you.
Source - I might have worked for both firms
Repeating what ex-EYP colleagues have told me - comp. and quality of life both tend to be better in AP.
If you want to be a career consultant, then AP is better. If you don't, then EY-P is better.
AP, A&M, FTI, Portage Point, Etc would all be better than EYP likely
Yea, depending on what you want to do. For Value Creation, Rx, M&A, FTI is likely better and more targeted. If you are looking to move to industry or MBB etc, EYP likely has a bigger brand name.
Anecdotally, my ex-colleagues, peers and friends in MBB were shocked when I told them I was switching to AP. They hadn’t even heard of it. All of them knew / know about EY or KPMG or Deloitte etc.
