Setting priorities from day 1 has helped me! Also, being a minority can be an advantage. I believe by law, some companies are required to have some minority employees. But of course, they wouldn't hire you if you wouldn't have a suitable qualification, which shouldn't affect you!
All very separate burdens. But last part, how’re you the only minority at your firm? Regardless, don’t make being a minority at work a personal burden to prove or overcompensate. You were hired like everyone else, do the best you can. Breadwinner for extended family?.. that’s tough. Don’t share your income and budget critically what you give them. I personally do not give money to anyone outside of parents and siblings( who are self sufficient btw), extended family is NOT your problem.
Sigh, I wish I could let go of my extended family but it's a bit more complicated than that
It takes a lot of understanding and dedication. Have to work since I was 18 just to send my siblings to school. Never had the chance to experience having serious romantic relationships because of my responsibility. But no regrets knowing that they are on the right path and they know how to give back the blessings they receive.
I try to practice regular self care to keep my head on straight. It can be extremely overwhelming and I tend to overthink things. Taking time to myself each week helps me to calm down my thoughts.
