"Scale" meaning what? That could imply a few things. I.e. Talent, crew, or budget range

Music videos 100% depend on the artist, label, and budget - i.e. the filmmakers almost always back into the budget provided rather than bid a budget through a quote. As a Producer/Director, I’ve done music vids for $3K. I’ve also done vids for $20K. And I’ve bid on vids at $100K. Usually in the MV world the label or artist will come to the production companies with the song, the budget, and the due date. The directors will pitch treatments for the vid, scaled to the given budget. So again, budget is flexible.
Typically what I’ve found is anything $5K and under is considered low budget. A lot of indie artists or artists on smaller alt labels live in this range. Rock bands tend to live in the $5-15K range depending on the label and how popular they are. EDM vids can range, but I’ve seen some as high as $50K and some as low as $20K. Well know pop artists on major labels can be anywhere from $100-$250k from what I’ve heard, but it really depends on who it is. That’s really the takeaway here - the budget always depends on the artist.

Be specific. Are you asking a producer’s rate for your time are you asking us to suggest a budget. Like EP2 says. There’s very little money in MV outside of top artists these days. I always work backwards on these things as well and see if it makes sense. Find out the budget and budget my time. Likely they will not be offering day rate unless it’s a top level talent. Recently worked on a very high profile MV and it was very “indie” minus the Bentley, Mazaratis and Ferraris parked out front. These people don’t need a break on your day rate but they will ask for it if not demand it.

Good rule of thumb is to put 40% of the budget into your pocket.
I’ve heard as low as 5-10k for tiny bands. The sadly low average is about $30k. Big budget for a video these days is maybe $200k. So I’ve heard anyways. Idk how or why anyone would take on a video at these prices but they do happen.
