What about d vs sd)
A director would be like a new SM at big 4. They're still getting used to selling, lead a few workstreams, but they definitely don't lead projects and probably not the most important workstreams.

Same difference as senior manager and partner at other firms
It depends, I guess. At big 4, you can't really be an SM forever. At A&M, there are some long-tenured SDs that don't want to sell so they remain SDs. Those folks are probably more like some MDs at big 4. Generally, SDs are like SMs though.
They lead workstreams and do a bit of selling. They rarely oversee entire projects like an MD would.
The equivalence doesn't really work for transitioning to A&M though. Typically, we down-level external hires, so big 4 SMs would be directors from a recruiting perspective.
What about Tier 2 manager (ow, Kearney) is it equivalent to director level at A&M?
