No, you’re not. I interviewed for a job that was fully remote. After I accepted, but before I started, they changed that polices to 2 days/week in office. Then, 6 months later, that went to 3. None of the people I work with are in that office, so now I have to fight the traffic, sit there, and take all meetings on Zoom. Needless to say, I’m exploring my options… Employers need to realize that, sometime (hopefully soon), it will again become a “buyers market,” and these ridiculous and archaic RTO policies are going to cause good people to leave. We don’t use fax machines and dictaphones any more. And we don’t need to slog through traffic to sit in an office any more, either.
That’s why it’s important to get terms for your employment in writing before accepting an offer. If I had interviewed based on the understanding that I would be a fully remote employee and they changed it right before I started, I would’ve rescinded my acceptance.
Nah you're not the least bit crazy. That's a pretty radical lifestyle shift to have to suddenly become accustomed to. What would be truly crazy is leaving without a backup plan in the worst job market I can remember living through. I wouldn't advise that.
You’re not. I just put in my notice for that very reason and I start my new job at the top of the year. I cannot risk my sanity for going in the office 5 days a week.

Nope! I love working a hybrid schedule.

I think that anytime there’s a change, whether it’s a change in leadership or something like what you’re describing, there’s some resistance and hesitancy…
But the reality is your firm isn’t the only one doing this type of restructuring… and more and more firms are returning to a full RTO posture… my wife’s firm closed all of their satellite offices in favor of 4 main campuses (NYC, San Francisco, Dallas & Charlotte)… if you worked in a satellite you either need to commute, relocate or separate from service… I’d say that’s a tad more aggressive…
