So I just recently passed my CPA exams and I’m now looking for new opportunities. I’m hoping to work at a big 4 firm in tax and possibly connect with anyone working there right now. Please reach out to me, I would look forward to connecting and learning more about potential opportunities. Thanks!EY PwC Deloitte KPMG

It’s not a bad place to live, but doesn’t usually come to my mind first when I think of family friendly areas. May I ask why you decided to start looking at South Orange?
Thank you we will certainly check those out.
I lived there for four years during my undergrad. I wouldn’t recommend it due to its proximity to other bad areas. It’s not worth the money to me due to the bleed over crime and there are better towns commutable to Manhattan that are safer.
For reference: second year there I lived on S. Centre Street in the “Tuxedo Park” neighborhood where there are million dollar houses and the house was robbed 3 times, fortunately no one was hurt. They caught the guy later after they found my housemates ID in his wallet and matched the finger prints from the robberies. It’s on the border of Newark there.
Year after that I lived on Wilden Place and we woke up to gun shots more than once from robberies. Year after that I lived on Ward Place and also saw crime due to proximity to Irvington. It’s not an area you’d like to walk around in at night, especially not with young kids.
Garwood is a nice area that is still affordable and has a train to the city. Cranford too.
South Orange is the nicer area of all the Oranges (East Orange & West Orange)
Just say no. Try Westfield
I live in Hunterdon County. It’s on the Delaware in central Jersey. I like it. Suburban/rural. I commute into NYC twice a week by train takes over 1 hour.
From what I read you want proximity to NYC. Hunterdon may not be for you. The area around New Brunswick is nice. Express trains can get you to NYC in 40 minutes. Suburban Essex County might also work (Livingston, Short hills)
Some towns in central jersey are also quite good. Marlboro, manalapan, Monroe, East Brunswick, to just name a few.
