E Y 1, the U.S. is a nation of the descendants of immigrants. This is one of the most talked about topics these days.
That works, but I would never marry someone for citizenship. Love is still the criteria on that one buddy, not citizenship.
Your question, why don't you become a citizen, proves you know nothing about immigration related processes. And that's just sad.
I'm not an immigrant. Why should I have to know about immigration? Same thing as me not being a car mechanic so I shouldn't have to know how to change my fuel system. Grow up.
EY1 probably voted for trump without fully understanding politics because EY1 after all isn't a politician. Just using your logic, EY1. Don't shoot me.
It's not easy to get a green card and it takes years for the country I am from.
It will get even worst now with our new fabulous president
I voted for Trump cause he's a savage.
Why don't you become a citizen?
Yeah, I'm in favor of limiting visas. I feel for you OP, what if you marry a citizen?
H1 fraud is not the answer too many Americans without work as it is... do it right or go back home
E Y 1, How ignorant are you?
I'm open minded. I'm trying to save mop from deportation.
Ey- what is your point ?
The US has to like t Visas we are no longer a country who needs to grow through immigration our birth rates blew through that in the mid 70s. Our economy can only count for .005% of workforce growth through immigration yet we are at nearly 4%. Hence the weening workforce, 90m sitting on the bench.
Both sides are arguable and understandable. However, within the current system it doesn't make sense that people are parsed out by their place of birth with a complete disregard for their competencies. All things equal, your coworker born outside India/China will get a green card 6 months after they are approved for one. Those born in India/China can wait over 15 years after they have been approved. That doesn't seem fair - the circumstances of someone's birth in and of itself shouldn't dictate their trajectory. It should be hard to immigrate, without a doubt. But the playing field should be leveled.
Where are you from?
EY1: From the day an employment based petition begins, it can take anywhere between 3 to 15 years (assuming success at each step of the way between Department of Labor and USCiS) depending on which country a foreign national was born in. It's hard.
OP: I hear you. Hang in there
Legal immigrants on h-1b are like dogs on a leash. I am on a work visa and I feel like one
