An opportunity has risen that I will be getting a promotion from Manager to Director. I am a senior employee and historically have gotten anywhere from 5.5% - 10% raises in the past. What would be an appropriate promotion to director percentage raise? I am happy where I work and don’t want to go anywhere, but also want to be respected in a role with more responsibilities.

I work for a mortgage company and I service many commercial mortgages that are unique in structure which makes servicing more challenging. Since we are a smaller company we have to come up with solutions or work harder get things done. I would say I do some managerial work now and train new staff. I received a phone call from Airtel Digital yesterday. They are looking for Java Backend Engineers. The HR asked me about my NP. I honestly told them 90 days, but they are looking for someone to join in 45 days. I told her that I could finish my work in 60 days and join Airtel in 60 days, but she was not agreeing. She told me to start servicing notice.

I have a new employee that started last Monday, unfortunately it’s not going to work out. Long story, but we’re fairly certain the individual is using Meth and appears to have started/restarted fairly recently. I work with physicians, so it’s a consensus. We have to terminate employment, but what ethical obligation do we have? Two young children at home and no spouse. This is weighing heavily on us.
