How long is it? Have you done PMO work before? I think if you haven't been in a PMO role yet, it could be good experience and help you build up some consultant skills
Take the role. Don't limit yourself so early in your career. It's a good opportunity to get some additional experience.
Take the gig. Duh.
Nothing disgusting about it. You might actually learn something. Like, how to stay off the bench and not ask silly questions like "should I stay on the bench or take the staffing opportunity."
Take the role
I recently finished a ~10 month PMO project and was promoted. Some pros are longer projects usually have better work life balance, you get a more holistic understanding of the client and workstreams, possible exposure to leadership, and longer PMO projects challenge you to work with larger amounts of data
Everyone needs pmo skills chances are you aren't great at all of the project management stuff yet so why not practice it
A1 ok I can see the benefit, is your next role also PMO or were you able to get something you were more "interested" in?
I'd would say take the project. I've done some PMO work before and it absolutely disgusts me no end. However, sometimes it makes for a good leaning experience. Disgusting nevertheless. Did I say disgusting yet? But take it.
Take it. If you hate it that probably means there's a lot of room for growth in that area for you. Embrace the discomfort!
A1 10 months, I've done some PMO work but it was really short project
What group are you in
A3 CDP, that's what it called after the restructuring
EY1 ok I agree, but you don't think this will hurt me in the future where I will only get offered PMO roles?
Next role is a short project working on a business case for an area that I'm very interested in. Will be using all the excel and client skills I've developed from my PMO project
Take it but another nugget of advice. Ultimately promotions (and might I add self satisfaction) depend on what value one brings in terms of content, subject matter expertise etc. I also view sales to be a byproduct of being seeing as a strong content rich person...all this one you will not get out of a dry PMO gig where u are essentially a servant begging people for weekly updates to put on a steering committee deck or a tracker. Don't become a PMO generalist.
PMO is a great spot to be as an Analyst. You'll learn a lot and build your network. No one is considered a PMO generalist. Go for it!
What sort of PMO is it? Are you going to manage some change on the client side? Or is it the on boarding and off boarding management of the Accenture resources? You can always tailor your experience and extract the items relevant to your desired next role to highlight. Such a designing a plan and guiding/tracking execution instead of calling it PMO. I did PMO for a chief strategy officer and on my resume I say partnered with the chief strategy officer. This is more plausible if it is the first type of PMO. I would say stay away from the second type unless you like it or are about to get fired for being on the bench
