Hello! I am looking for two new Texas teachers (0-5 years) who would be interested in participating in a study I am doing as a Doctoral Candidate at Baylor. The study looks to understand the experiences women working in the field of education have had that triggered shame and explore their resilience. I usually present one or more sample feature requests and ask how he or she would break it down and validate it's value. The question allows me to:
1. Gain an understanding of their analytical skills and thought process
2. Determine whether they have the ability to get to the core need/issue or the "why" that's driving the ask
I also ask interviewees to explain the difference between the Product Owner and Business Analyst roles.
Real time
It’s amazing to me how many candidates don’t ask probing questions about the team, company culture, the product, customer proof, internal processes, vision and growth for role, etc etc. I automatically disqualify anyone who doesn’t probe on at least some of these Qs as it shows they aren’t thinking critically about the value of the company, their fit, nor are they showing real curiosity for what we do.
Great point. I think we’ve lost sight of some of these factors in the last two years.
One thing I always appreciated was having them what define what a product owner does and is? You can gauge their experience and understanding of the role.
Oooh this is super helpful. Thank you for this.
I was recently hired at a new company and for my second interview they had me complete a case study using a tool of my choice to see how it would break it down and determine MVP and get intel from stakeholders/users. I found it to be helpful in demonstrating my skills (and I was hired!)
Love it, thank you!
I’m a senior PO and I love asking:
“What are three adjectives that coworkers that you’re close with use to describe you”
— Let them answer —
“Now what are three adjectives coworkers rhat might not like you (for whatever reason) use to describe you?”
I love this question because it’s a challenging behavioral question — they likely rehearsed rhe first part, so it comes off smooth. The second part, however, makes them think (and I usually like to say you can’t just say antonyms for the first response)
