Took about 7-8 years but it really depends on you kind of work you enjoy doing. But typically you want 4-6 years of experience understanding the technical role before moving into management.
About 6-8
It took seven years for me to become a supervisor, then another year to become a manager of a ~40 person department.
Not me, but a colleague of mine became a manager in less than 4 years starting as an entry level engineer.
