I'm an engineer, and I feel like my manager is more of a friend than anything else. We talk about our personal lives, and I feel like it's hard to be completely honest with her when she's so casual with me. I don't want to lose our friendship, but I also need to be able to talk honestly with someone who has the power to help me grow professionally. Is there a way to have both?

Be clear about what you need when starting a conversation with her, if you need her to be a friend about what you're about to tell her or if you need her to be your manager

Maybe you can start by being honest about your feelings - letting her know that you appreciate her being friendly, but that sometimes you need to talk more seriously about work. If you can find a way to communicate effectively, you'll be able to have both a good working relationship and a strong friendship.

It might be helpful to set boundaries for yourself, and make sure you reserve personal conversations outside of work. It's important to find a balance that works for both of you.

I am deeply shocked and hurt for the kind of things she has spoken for me and for my family in front of everyone, I don’t want to live with her anymore, i am feel very low and lonely but i fear that they would drag my family to the court and imply fake FIR as they say and she said very clearly that she will not let me walk out of this marriage easily. They have trapped us by pretending like a very good family with values, and showed their true colours after the marriage. Please suggest

Upper management's direction is to put together the most aggressive deadlines we can. If we think a project will take 16 months, make the plan for 10 months then there's a chance we may launch in 13 months.

I understand that time to market is important in consumer product goods, but being constantly behind schedule and rushing everything is terrible for the team's morale.
