I honestly just want to hear the perspective of anyone who works in a nursing team at Houston Methodist Hospital. However, If you are not RN or work in a nursing team. I would still appreciate your opinion. These are some questions that I am wondering:
- What is like to work here?
- Is there high turnover in your unit?
- What is the nursing team like?
- What are the challenges that continue to occur within your unit/hospital?
My partner is an RD at Methodist. Loves working there and there’s low turnover, but raises are small and middle management hires have been consistently questionable at best, outright petty/awful at worst.
If you can keep away from from the managers/directors, you’ll have a better time
I couldn't agree more!!! The latest choices for middle management is disgusting and their lack of professionalism is appalling!
The image of the hospital is more important than staff satisfaction. Even going to make formal complaints to HR about the blatant disregard for patient safety/outcomes has not improved the culture in my unit. I work in ICU too.. so we LITERALLY have Patient's lives in our hands. There is no accountability at all it feels like I am back in High School and the Charge Nurses/Managers/etc are the creepy teachers who are BEGGING to be viewed as the "cool supervisor". The only thing they care about is if you checked all of your boxes (documented whatever nonsense they are focusing on that week regarding our charting) and that you clock out on time.
The pay is decent and the bonuses/pay raises used to be amazing but they have slacked significantly this past year or 2. The health benefits are trash. Doctors and nurses are leaving left and right at my location.. it is very scary and frustrating to see so many good people leave because of corporate bureaucracy and toxic work enviroments.
There are multiple locations and various departments, so it might be more dependent on those specifics….
