Any tips for a first time trip to San Salvador? Your favorite experiences, places to stay, anything you wish you knew? Going for a long weekend this month or next as a solo female traveller, serviceable Spanish (know how to say most words but no idea how to really conjugate), money is not really a concern but appreciate knowing any scams to watch out for if they exist. It's also my first time in the country and there's a ton of info out there so feeling a bit overwhelmed. Thanks for your help!

El Salvador is beautiful - the ocean, Ruta de las Flores, the Mayan ruins (though not as impressive as other places), and Santa Ana volcano are impressive. San Salvador is a decent city, very safe, but the traffic is crazy. Took three hours to get back from Suchitoto, a pleasant colonial city - nice but very low key and a few tourist attractions. Attractions are doable in a day or two, we cut things a bit short because I was with kids and we spent a lot of time in traffic. The art museum (MARTE) was good but the anthropology museum was closed - both you can cover in an hour. Iglesia Rosario was good for a peek but there was a wedding going on because it was a Saturday. My favorite attraction in San Salvador was the San Miguelito market - the sheer scale of offerings was mind blowing, and none is geared to tourists. Scams appear rare. I stayed at the Sheraton, which was kind of meh (the surrounding area was pretty and very upscale, though) but absolutely loved Paraiso Escondido, an ocean resort in a rainforest about two hours away.

I know it's hard to account for every type of disability but we can at least start with the most common ones.
