I've never understood this, why do there seem to be more female librarians than male?

My school actually had a really great male librarian!

Maybe it is because it is a very quiet job.

Friends, I’m looking for a few good sources to help my clients *feel* how the COVID crisis is affecting the Latinx community, especially “less acculturated,” Spanish-dominant folks in the US. Could be a podcast episode, photojournalism, artwork, an op-Ed. I have lots of numbers and stats, but I need help finding something more evocative than hard-to-feel-real percentages. Much appreciated!

How have you or people you know attained a funded PhD from their company?

I am project manager in clinical research industry (CRO). After earning PhD, I gave up my science dream to take a more stable job. After slowly climbing the ladders, I feel like I finally got a seat at the table. Half the days I like the hustle, but now I miss being creative. I want to take more brainstorming, decision making responsibilities but I don’t see that in the career path for PM. Career path usually goes like this- Sr PM, Director l, Sr Director, and so on. But all do same work.

I have been approached by 3 separate HR people at a startup company to interview for a position. I already have a fulltime job that pays well and I only started 6 months ago too. Anyways, the pay was intriguing and the job was a high level scientific advisor so I did interviews. At the last interview, at the end I was told the job was for management but I prepared for a different kind of interview. I am waiting for an offer or rejection letter. I feel peeved that they wasted my time. Red flags?

I remember when I first started working on my thesis project. My adviser asked me to get some funding for it, but he didn't give me any advice about how to do that. He just told me that if I wanted money for my project, I'd have to go through some kind of committee process and submit an application for funding from them. Sure enough, after weeks of writing applications and waiting around for responses from the committee members (who were always too busy), I eventually got approved for funding!
