Can't compare to other cities as I have seen very little of Europe myself, but I loved Bruges amongst the cities I visited (definitely better than Brussels). It is such a picturesque city.
Bruges is a great place to visit
Rothenburg was nice. Prague was very nice also
Prague or Munich would get my vote based on experience. Krakow and Budapest are next on my list.
I’d say Munich for Oktoberfest in September if you are there at that time. Otherwise Prague or Budapest.
German 🐠 here... I think where to go really depends on what you would like to see and do. That being said, I’m not a big fan of Brussels but I think it can be nice for 2 days. As someone mentioned, other places in Belgium are more beautiful (Ghent, Bruges, Antwerp). Germany obviously has great cities, too. I totally love Munich, Hamburg is definitely worth a visit and obviously there are also smaller interesting places. Happy to answer more specific questions...
Depends on what you are looking for though. Bruges is a quaint little town. Brussels is like any other major European city.

I actually loved Brussels. We did a great walking chocolate and beer tour which was really so fun! And from there you can easily do a day trip to Bruges. It’s about an hour train ride
Brussels or Bruges would be the most convenient since they are between Amsterdam and Paris... easy cheap hops on Thalys.
Depends on the amount of time you have. I wouldn’t spend more than 2 or 3 days in Brussels, maybe add on a day in Bruges like others have said. I found Brussels to be a good quick city, not one I would spend a lot of time there
Munich and Vienna are awesome. In germany i would also recommend frankfurt
