Don’t take their shit…
Maybe the direction you're giving them isn't clear and they're afraid to ask?
That’s kinda crazy. If they want to do one extra version of it their way, that’s fine, but they’ve also got to deliver what you asked for as a bare minimum. This seems like a bigger issue with them not respecting your direction, and I wonder if as shitty as it is, if you’ve just gotta raise it to your boss. b/c unless your direction is insane (which I’m sure it isn’t), they’re not letting you do your job which means the work won’t get better and it isn’t going to be tenable going forward. Sorry this is happening.
Make sure you aren’t just asking for things without explaining the why. Also be open to solves that you might not have gone to yourself.
Visual Storyteller
thanks. I feel like I’m being pretty open and explanatory as well as understanding of the challenges with such a narrow assignment. I usually prefer pretty pithy copy but am trying to be open to more lengthy phrasing. It’s just feeling a little too phoned in.
Two words. Cattle prod.
Don’t ask them. Tell them.
