This one is for folks on h1b visa. So at time when you have an offer in hand(not accepted the offer yet and h1b transfer process not yet begun) while you are working with your current employer, do you even speak to your employer about your new offer to see if they make a counter offer?
Is there a risk involved with this approach assuming your current employer doesn't provide you with a counter offer and they ask you to leave immediately (and your h1b visa hasn't been transferred either)

I am a backend Java engineer, and have solely used Java since I've started my software engineering career about 2 years ago. Just became an ACD. Im in a limbo. Half of the time im being treated as a Super Senior AD and the other half im being treated as a Almost CD. Then when im scoped over work that my CD and I oversee, some people are asking me how does my role differ from the CD’s, as they tend to look at me as an unnecessary layer for approvals.
