I was told when I first started to try out different companies in your twenties, jump around after two years at each. But if you don’t like a place don’t stay there any longer than you have to.

Depends on your career goals and the type of agencies. If you’re aiming for the big names like FCB, Weiden, DDB, BBDO, etc. it’s all about your book. If you don’t get a great piece in your book within a year-year and a half, time to move on. If you keep cranking out great business driving and award-winning pieces every year or so, you’ll keep growing. Make it about the work, not length of time and they’ll want to keep you around.

The market you’re in also matters. The length of time you’re at a small agency in a market like Fort Worth will probably matter more than a market like NYC, Chicago, London, etc. Companies don’t tend to care much in those large markets. Again, it’s all about your book.

Thank you! I just always wondered if others thought the same or how they would take this advice. I agree that it really depends on your book over anything in most cases. But I never thought of it as what market you are in.

I completely disagree with less than 2 years. You won’t have true understanding of “most” companies and their vision to move forward without this time commitment. This also shows you stuck it out when times were rough or the job wasn’t ideal. This speaks directly to your commitment and tenacity. Often, that has more power and will open more doors than your work will. We receive a sea of resumes every week, those that job jump go to the bottom. The business can’t grow if it can’t depend on its team.

If a company is very volatile and the environment is bad, then you have every right to jump quickly. However, this should be rare and if you really dig during an interview you should be able to pickup on this.

On another note, if you’re happy and there’s opportunity for growth, why would you leave to try something else? You could be giving up the best job you’ve ever had, or will ever have.

It definitely changes the thought if you’re only working on one client the entire time. That’s the big agency small agency challenge. The things you have to deal with at each are very different.

Cont. He told me this because that way I would learn from multiple different agencies/ in house people. That being in your 20’s you’re allowed to take risks and try to find your place. Would you say this is true? Do most people think this way? Wondering since this was one persons opinion what others would think.

This post is an alert message for anyone joining the Johnson & Johnson EMEA account for SAP & had Rakesh Sharma for their Manager round.

He is nothing less than a con man & will promise you a lot to make you join the account. After that he will put you in testing projects. If you ask for a release, he will either not release you or release with a very bad rating and influence other project managers to not take you into their projects.

You will be left with no choice other than leaving TCS.

Hey people

I have recently received an offer letter from PwC and have signed and accepted the offer (via Workday portal).
Now when I check the tasks against the job on workday, I can see no tasks pending and under completed tasks: a green tick against 'review and sign offer letter (step complete)' (and I can see the offer)
I am told that I would receive onboarding emails from HR, but I haven't yet.
My DoJ is in the fourth week of July. When do we generally expect these communications?
