Literally, leave. Idk why people keep coming to this place when it’s so awful 9 months out of the year. If I wasn’t trapped here by family I’d be gone in a second. Before anybody says anything I’ve lived in California and the east coast for work before relocating home, so I know how bad we actually have it.
Have no family here but I prefer this weather over the harsh winters and humid summers of the Midwest/East coast any day. We have 4 months of incredible weather whereas those regions get like 2 weeks of “spring” and 2 weeks of “fall”
Step outside RIGHT NOW while it’s sunny and enjoy it
But also seriously seriously it’s just starting to get good. Just you wait there’s plenty of sunshine coming
Go outside when it's raining. Get the right clothes / footwear that make this comfortable for you.
If you let the wet stop you from doing things you enjoy, you're going to be unhappy.
Maximize your time outside when sunny/nice and find fun winter activities - skiing is popular (expensive, yes) and there are still hikes to do just dress appropriately. Winter is also a good time to get a hobby that’s inside. I took a ceramics course and loved it and definitely helped me cope with the dark/rain. I’m considering a woodworking or music class for this fall - if those aren’t your thing there’s a lot of sports leagues you can do too!
Get a good raincoat, and go somewhere (like a brewery) that has a fire pit or heated outdoor seating! And wear layers. Try to enjoy outdoor things despite the weather!
Play video games, go on dates, eat at steakhouses, hike the mountains, take naps, read, paint, work out etc
Buy yourself a quality rain jacket. Take advantage of the sunny days, they'll be here soon! Take a vitamin D supplement. Eat well, get your rest and take walks, even on rainy days. To pass the time, I've gotten into painting/sketching, reading, live music, and wandering around different neighborhoods with a nice coffee.
