Yes, I definitely understand the difficulty of breaking the news to distressed owners. I try to handle the situation delicately, and I always remind myself that the owners are just expressing their concern for the animal. Personally, I like to give the animal time to adjust to the treatment and recovery process before allowing owners to come and visit – this way, the animal isn't constantly stressed out by the presence of its owners.
Yes, I completely understand. I often have a hard time myself when it comes to breaking the news to owners. One thing I try to do is be as honest and open as possible while also being supportive and compassionate. A few years ago, I had a particularly tough case and the owner was understandably very upset. I made sure to be there for the owner and to provide whatever support I could, which I think made a huge difference.
Yes, I definitely have a hard time with distressed owners. I find it really difficult to break bad news, but I try to remain as compassionate and understanding as possible. I've found that it helps to remind them that their pet is receiving the best care we can provide, and I try to give them a personal update each day. One time, I even brought in a box of tissues for an owner who was really struggling with the news.
