Anyone been through a situation where you were consistently a high performer at prior firms and then start a new role where you don’t feel like a fit or aren’t performing as well? How did you navigate it?

I’m starting a new role soon and this is my worry. I know it’s a step up and will be demanding so my plan is to:

Immerse myself in the role for the first few months while maintaining a balanced lifestyle outside of work to give me the best chance. I try to read up / listen to podcasts etc on aspects of the role in my spare time.

First year is your pass to ask any “stupid” questions so take advantage of it. Make notes that you can refer back to.

Mindset is key here. Understand that you got the role because you have the qualities, qualifications and profile to excel at it. Having the right mindset takes off the worry and stress.

You’ve got this.

Prior roles I have quickly picked up the duties and felt pretty settled within three months. I’m about 8 months into my current role and feel like I don’t know enough, or as much as I should. I’ve received great feedback from leadership. I ask questions and take notes. The challenge is that the work is pretty niche and heavily dependent on federal regulations so there is a steep learning curve. I spend a lot of time in meetings or reading up on stuff and trying to digest all that information.

Succes at one firm does not necessarily translate into success at another firm, particularly a production role in banking and finance. The buy box and egos that you need to navigate can be drastically different. From my experience you leave and go back to your previous employer if you can. The other thing to think about is if the new firm is giving you access to new markets, more complex deals and different products, it may make sense to give it more time. Sometimes personal growth is painful. I hope this helps.

HR confirmed it though that there would be a separate communication regarding the same. I have 7.5 YOE and joining as Senior consultant QA. How much stocks value can i expect to get?

In Thoughtworks offer letter there is no mention of Stocks and joining Bonus. Can someone give insights about it including figure?

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Someone told me today that they just assume I’m not interested because I always seem to “run” but I’m not sure how to bring up problems/feelings otherwise. How do you approach these hard questions?

My dilemma is:
A) going back to Italy at a lower salary with less growth opps but better personal life or
B) Switching my job here and hold on

What would you do?

Thx! :)

Anyone deal with this before: I inherited a severely under developed team including a sr analyst who clearly was doing the bare minimum, if that. Over the last 6 months I have had to coach him and correct simple mistakes in his work and recently it got so bad that I told him he would receive a low rating in his evaluation. He lashed out, involved HR saying he doesn’t understand why, and now my review points out stuff that I would have let slide.
