The good news is you (probably) weren't alive during the cold War. You'd be an anxious wreck.
Ignore the prospect of nuclear war, especially if you live in a major city. The two most likely scenarios are that either you get vaporized with no warning, or everything will be fine. Only exception is if you're a head of state or very senior diplomat who is powerful enough to stop or prevent a nuclear war. Then having the prospect on your mind makes sense.
What’s scarier is reading about the number of nuclear close calls, where systems erroneously thought a nuclear war was imminent and by luck some person decided against retaliation as they believed it was an error. In todays cybersecurity environment and now that all countries are on alert for nuclear readiness, there is a potential chance this could happen again.

Just think about all the Russian submarines right off the east and west coasts.
Some people think Putin will act rationally. I don’t. “Let’s do a no fly zone, let’s give them migs. We aren’t fighting Russia.” I think it’s ridiculous to think with each escalation that anyone could argue the west is not involved.
Did you see the footage of Putin dressing down his head if Intelligence? He has complete control.
The fear is real.

DW those submarines, like the rest of their military, is a rusting hulk. If they try to fire those nukes all they will do is sink. Maybe irradiate some fish which would be a bummer.
