I’m in tax, so it may be different. But I am 10 YOE at B4 and have only reliably landed interviews if I network into it. That might be working with an outside recruiter who knows the company or having an existing connection refer me to the recruiting manager, etc.
I think the issue is less about your resume and more about at that level, relationships matter. And other candidates are getting the referrals, etc. Company’s don’t want to hire someone they don’t know. And if 4 candidates have the various firms and peer companies saying they endorse someone specific, there’s no reason for the Company to look elsewhere.
Are you networking as much as you can? Just applying to roles in this market won’t do the trick as the market is saturated with talent who are applying just like you. You want to do something to help yourself stand out. Advise would be to search for openings via posts for your desired positions on LinkedIn (last 24 hours). Generally these will be hiring managers or recruiters who are making these posts. Apply to the role and invest in LinkedIn Recruiter version (believe you get 50 in mails a month) and send an inmail to the person who made the post. Have a quick summary around your experience and that you would like to connect to discuss the role and why you’re a strong fit. Follow up every 2 days and prepare for interviews using CHATGPT.
You can also try having specific resumes for specific roles you’re applying for which are tailored for different roles and use those to apply. You can even use ChatGPT to apply specific key words from the job description into your resume to get past the AI auto rejections. More time consuming but also will help you get past the automated rejections you may be seeing.
Good luck!
I think the market is tough rn
I’m in TAS and responses have been nonexistent. Landing interviews during college was easier.
