I just left a dentsu company because it got so demoralizing having to tell my team over and over again that I have no news on their promotions, raises etc that are so long over due. They were miserable but so was I and there was absolutely nothing I could do to fix it other than getting in the weeds and making myself more miserable to relieve them a little bit.
I truly feel for those who are unemployed right now but I also feel like working yourself to the bone at a reduced salary and then being told to be thankful you have a job like the poster above me said is gaslighty.
You. Still. Have. A. Job.
And this is how employees are gaslit.
I’m still at a pay cut. Happy i have a job still.
Thank you for saying this, I’m out of work and reading posts about people upset they’re not getting raises is making my blood boil.
i didn’t know raises will have to wait until july? is this true?
That’s what was said at a DAN meeting over the summer or in the fall. Next merit / promo cycle would be in July. Might get more info today they’d said there would be Q&A in the town hall.
I feel like people will want to leave their jobs but I think it remains to be seen how many opportunities will open up in the new year. I’m in a smaller market but no one seems to know

Our employers are basically holding us hostage at this point.
Already seeing a good chunk of people make moves this year. The market for some departments is better than others.

Oh yeah. 3 people have already left our creative team and everyone who's still here are all looking for new jobs. My agency is going to be absolutely ravaged if 3 more people leave in close proximity to one another.

One went in-house, two went agency.
October here for us... a full 2 years without a raise because of COVID.
Salary freeze here, with no end in sight. Meanwhile we’re hiring in other departments.
