What is a simple way to explain to my boyfriend that investing in equity with an expected return of 10% is better than paying off debt that is growing at a rate of 6%. He has student loans and is adamant that he wants to pay all of them off immediately before saving any retirement money. I understand that many individuals use this strategy but I think investing in index funds for the long haul is better from a wealth accumulation perspective, without even factoring in tax implications of 401k

Been in consulting, three years post MBA. At a point where I honestly feel like what we do doesn't matter. We don't actually make anything and reuse solutions. Anyone have similar thoughts? (Cont.)
