Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Nah I’m just like you. Find your hobbies and interests and spend time and money on those. Don’t feel like you need to spend money on things that bring other people happiness.

I’m with you but I do spend in certain things. Food is probably my largest cost (and associated cooking items).
$200 sous vide? No questions asked
$300 for a great meal? Sign me up
Replace the 3 pairs of shorts I’ve had for 9 years and workout in 4x a week? No way. That $60 is valuable!
Try to spend a little money on things you value and make you happy. Don’t worry if that’s not a car / luxury watch / etc.

I’m like this too and proud of it. I drive my cars until they’re not driveable anymore, and I use things until they’re worn out and can’t be repaired. Not into our throwaway culture or the obsession with having the latest and best. It’s economical and way more environment-friendly. (And in response to a comment above, getting married and starting my own family didn’t change this, and neither did buying a home.)
This is exactly me as I got older and realized investing / saving gives me greater piece of mind
I'm similar. It will change when you get married/have kids. You still won't save for yourself but you'll find things to spend money on.
Hmm if you want to keep minimalist ideals but feel more with it in 2021 Consumerism maybe just do channel KonMari and try purchasing just a few things of high quality that you know will spark joy in your life for at least a few years.

Do what makes you happy.
I rarely buy clothes and I drive a decade old car.
Most of my spending money is used towards therapy, travel, and food.
But I don’t mind dropping $100 on a nice dress shirt or renting a sports car if I get the desire to.
I wish I could be more like you lol
I’m the opposite I spend everything I have on myself and family and friends and experiences and save nothing… #trustfund for retirement
I totally relate to this- I am similar. I don't think there's anything wrong with it.
I don't imagine I'll regret not buying fancy clothes or accessories or whatever people are buying later in life. I will regret not travelling or spending time with family/friends so I spend money accordingly (based on what I value).
I have the opposite problem, I spoil myself like a princess lol
