So I do UberEats on a very limited basis for a very limited purpose…
Our second car died and I wanted something better and nicer, so I drive Uber Eats until I make about $500, make my car payment, and don’t worry about it again. It takes maybe 4-5 days total in a month to make that, then I have my own car for the rest of the month.
I don’t worry about miles and wear and tear because honestly, I’m in DFW area. I can make 15 deliveries and not leave a 5 mile radius so I see that as minimal. I’m not a long haul truck driver, I’m dropping off McDonalds and Taco Bell to drunk kids who don’t want to do it. I’ll take it 👍
I actually look forward to it to be honestly, I talk ALL DAY in presentations. When I drive, I put on audio books and chill and get outside, I like it.
WOW 4-5 days is not bad at all! I live in the suburbs but close enough to the busy city that I can drive there to do work instead.
Pros:
Flexible schedule—you can choose when to work
Potential to earn good money, especially during peak hours
No boss or strict supervision
You can work in different locations
Instant or weekly payouts, depending on the platform
Cons:
No benefits like health insurance or retirement plans
Self-employment taxes and no automatic tax withholding
Wear and tear on your vehicle, plus gas expenses
Earnings can be inconsistent depending on demand
No job security or guaranteed income
can’t speak from personal experience but my brother does it at night and said he averages $20/hr before factoring in gas and taxes.
I used to do it to kill time on weekends and payback some school debt. I drove a hybrid so it helped with the costs, but if I didn’t, then I’d be very hesitant on starting in the first place. I made some money but not enough to where I wanted to continue.
That's good input. I don't have an electric car but I do drive a hybrid so that will help.
I deliver more for uber than doordash I have them both. Doordash you have to schedule sometimes you can just go. But I can always just go with uber. I try to stay closer to my home. I do track my miles for tax purposes. I keep track of everything. I do work at a factory 3rd shift. So this I do on the weekends mostly.
I have tried them and it wasn’t anything special but if you go to McKinney Allen and Frisco on a Friday and leave Sunday evening you can make $600 if your car gets good gas mileage
That’s a good amount!
I did Doordash for a few months and really enjoyed it. Be prepared to set aside expenses for vehicle maintenance, make sure you hold aside your taxes If you make over $600, record your mileage and write it off as a business expense. You can find a lot of apps to track your mileage, don't rely on the delivery apps. There's a couple of rules surrounding this so read up. I ensured I capped off before $600 to avoid paying taxes. I didn't deliver unless it was peak hours. I also made a spreadsheet outlining the cost versus income to ensure it was making sense. I was thankful I had a really great customers. Every once in a while you get a cash tip and you get to meet a lot of great people. Communication is key. If you think you're going to be late, let your customer know right away even though it tells them in the app. Overall, I would say it's definitely worth it short term.
I signed up for, but it’s been hard to get am order because they limit it in NYC. On the other hand, I have done Instacart and has been better because I can get batches. I suggest trying Instacart if you are ok doing the grocery shopping for others.
I dash do it!...if I dash at night a take a friend or 2 I'm not playing with a NOBODY😁

Smart, better to be safe!
I was doing it for a bit in a MN suburb. However I found it hard to build in time during the week. On weekends it can either be great or annoying so I've stopped doing it as much
