What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’ve been running into weird happenings at my new firm learn of everything “I misunderstood” about my package. I don’t actually qualify for quarterly bonuses at a pro-rated billing rate; no 401ks till year 2; and the biggest—we don’t qualify for a raise unless we are here during the entire fiscal year. We have a 2100 billable req which I’m barely hitting. We also get paid below 6 figures. I learned that the new associates came is at least $10k over us. I graduated 2020–but 1st firm job. Advice?

I accepted a job offer in April to start a few months from now, post clerkship. All conflicts/background check went smoothly etc. Since accepting my offer, the firm has increased their 1st year pay across the board to be higher than my offer was (which was, at the time, what 2nd yeas got).
