Most of the other tax groups in things like International and SALT with complex tax planning/structuring are generally very heavy group with lots of JDs with LLMs. Those groups can pay really well but can require really high level research and technical writing skills at big firms like PwC. You’ll be working with really smart people if you can get in.
Thanks! Would you know anything this group? How’s it different from other international tax groups?
Is it PwC’s International Tax - QST group, not QTS? If it’s QST that’s Quantitative Solutions & Technology and I’m pretty sure that was a group that handled a lot of modeling when I was there. Def traditionally more of a CPA role than a JD/LLM role cuz of the excel and other software-heavy nature of the work, but if you’re into that (or want to improve at that!), go for it!
Sorry I meant QST, DMing you!
They have cuties in that group. Ok, I will exit from this group now
Wouldn’t PwC website provide information on the sub service line? Or lookup the job description? Can’t speak for PwC specifically, but broadly quantitative solutions teams perform heavy modeling work (basis study/e&p/ expense apportionment) leveraging cool automation tools and model. You would require same technical understanding of the international tax law, but will have to be a bit more tech savvy too. In my previous big 4 firm (not PwC) I would often pow wow with someone from QS on reporting weird transaction or scenarios in the tax returns/disclosure statements as well.
