Stay for points and for actually making use of your hard earned status
For points I understand.
For the hard earned status, it's pretty much mute for business travel. I've been staying at the same hotel for over a year now, so the best perks just come from the staff haha. I would definitely choose a Marriott property to spend my points and make use of the hard earned status for personal stays tho!
Just wondering if should diversify my points/status lol... I have a lot of Marriott points (probably more than I can spend in the near future).
Since becoming Titanium for life, Bonvoy is my backup program and I prefer my Hyatt Globalist status
Totally agree. After the last two weeks, 3 subpar Marriott properties, including a night with no power, they may have become my 3rd choice. Due to project locations this past year I have top tier status with Bonvoy, Hilton and Hyatt
Depends. Are you maxed out on lifetime status too? If so, could be worth considering. Or you could keep staying at Marriotts for the bonus points
8 years platinum as an SA!
I’ve hit Titanium for life on Marriott/SPG/Bonvoy, but keep with it to keep points co-located... 🤷🏽♀️ plus, who wants to go “backward” and start from zero status?
Lots of people I know are switching to Hyatt once they hit ambassador for the year.
ask for a status match/challenge at the other chains? can't hurt to diversify
Spread the risk, companies go out of business all the time. “Lifetime” more likely describes the life of the company, not your life.
Plus, Marriott is by far the shittiest rewards program. Their crazy number of hotels is the only thing that keeps me coming back
Towards lifetime nights? Or should I try to see if I can climb up the status with Hilton/Hyatt?
Anyone else who does this or specifically doesn't? Thoughts?
Been thinking of it myself, after I hit 100 nights, status match/challenge with Hilton and build up some status there.
100 nights is only Titanium unless you hit the spend level, too
There is no spend level for titanium, you are thinking of Ambassador Elite (100 nights + $20,000 spend)
YMMV - I’m over 100 for the year and still have $12,000 to spend for renew Ambassador. If you’re going for that, then push for the spend and points. Otherwise break off and go for other statuses. If you do that, go for a match so you get high bonuses quickly and don’t have to wait months to get there with Hyatt or IHG for example.
Woah avg. rate 120/ night?
