Are company town halls worth your time, or is it just another meeting that you work through?

If they actually let employees ask questions, then I think they’re valuable.

Depends on what the agenda is tbh. Some are very interesting when it impacts my role: such as a new product or campaign that could help boost sales numbers otherwise it's something I have playing in the background

A little of both. They can be very interesting or they can be boring, silly or incomprehensible.

We always have about 30 minutes for Q+A. Those have gotten super engaging since we went full time WFH. People vote the most important questions to the top. That means we get a lot of good questions out there and there’s very little of the, “I’m asking this question because I want to impress all the managers” type of thing.

like

They can be interesting and informative. It really depends on the topic they are addressing.

Company townhalls can be very beneficial but only if employees actually go to them and participate. When people are too afraid to voice their concerns at town halls then nothing gets accomplished or fixed.

I have always found company tounhalls to be informative if nothing else. I have never once left one not atleast knowing a little more about the company or there perspective in one way or another. I really do think that they can be very beneficial

I think I may have made a huge mistake today. My skip level director sent out an email about something and asked us for feedback. I sent back a note and provided some. One of the things I said was that our job satisfaction might be improved if we could do more of X kind of work instead of Y kind of work that we do so much of in our group. The next thing I know, I get a ping from his EA to set up time for me to chat with him and my director tomorrow. I am getting in trouble tomorrow, right?
