Consider doing a bible study on confession.
I went to Catholic school and was led/forced to do confession in grade school but it never felt right.
As an adult, I studied the Bible for myself and I have a Godly perspective on confessing one to another.
Confession is multifaceted. Confession and repentance is necessary but you also need walk with Godly people.
That walk with the people of God can help with the shame of sin and repentance.
Do you have Godly counsel outside of your priest?
No I don't have anyone but my priest. It gets hard to find other Godly people. How do you reckon I can find someone to confess to?

Acts 18:24
And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.
This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.
And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.
Thanks for sharing this verse :)
A priest? I thought this was a Christian group not Catholic. The priest have more sins than you! Stop doing that, you can only confess with God thru Jesus.
I’m a ex- Catholic and it’s a lie

Here’s scripture regarding the divisions that started to emerge….in our modern society it can be said that denominations are divisions of the one body , one faith… this would include Catholicism and others
Hope this helps…
Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
