Whatever you do please, for the love of god, don’t ever build a checklist in excel. Just use the word tables.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. When lawyers finally learn Excel, it’s gonna be like when big men started shooting 3s.

There are two main problems. The first is that redlining software in Excel needs to be much better before it’s a viable alternative. The second is that we can’t even get associates to properly learn how to use Word so there’s no way they can learn excel. For example, they don’t know how to turn on paragraph marks, they don’t know what a document map is, etc. .

I’ve looked at that time and again, but not sure I can justify the cost. What makes you recommend it A6?

We use Legatics - take some time to adjust to the change but I’m obsessed with it now - currently on a transaction with 800 items and I cannot imagine the physical pain of trying to manage that in Word or anything else. Your firm would need to get a license for it but I do highly recommend

I then get hit with a $180 ride. Marriott website says taxi should be $65. Should I complain or let it go?

Junior associate here, should I ask for more money if my firm is about 10-15 percent less hours but about 30 percent less pay? The gap will never be closed to the top pay scale at my firm but when I decided to come to this firm the pay difference was about 15 percent and not 30. Curious as to how many deals at once is typical for a first year associate to take on (M&A, mostly private equity clients). Deal size is lower middle market and I’ve worked on deals ranging from $1-$110M. 2 deals at once is plenty for me, but it seems like my peers are able to take on more than that at once and still do fine. Maybe I’m just a slow learner/out of my league at the big law firm I’m at.

So I had 3 deals scheduled to either close end of May or mid June which were all pushed to end of June/beginning of July. Which is when I have my first vacation planned for over a year (I take 0 time off). My whole family is flying up and we’re renting a cabin near me. What do I do? I’m running one of the deals, semi running the other one and not doing much leading on the other one. Note: I was supposed to not be running any of these. Do I find a back up first or tell the partners first?
